Hauer international: Heavy-duty freight for New Zealand
Extensive international transactions are part of Hauer's daily business. When it comes to keeping escalators and lifts running, Hauer practically delivers its parts to all European countries. Occasionally, the company also delivers to overseas - which is normally no problem at all. In times of the Corona pandemic, however, Hauer had to come up with a special plan to deliver a heavy-duty package on time. Destination: Ministry of Justice in New Zealand.
At Hauer, numerous orders are dispatched every day. The fast shipment of important components represents one of the service cornerstones of the leading independent supplier of spare parts for elevators and escalators in Europe. In spring 2020, however, large parts of the world came to a standstill. It was a completely new situation for everyone: Corona caused delays everywhere, including at the Hauer elevatorshop. And that was precisely when an order came in, which suddenly represented a real challenge for the Hauer team: The New Zealand Ministry of Justice urgently needed new escalator stairs.
During the lockdown: a 300-kilo air freight shipment
The ordered goods were - as usual at Hauer - immediately packed and prepared for dispatch. The shipment’s destination couldn’t have been any further away: It was New Zealand, the other side of the world. As it was extremely urgent, only one mode of shipment made sense: air freight. But how would that work? At a time when most airports were closed and contact bans applied, this was no easy task.
The Hauer professionals nevertheless mastered the challenge: The Karlsruhe specialists moved heaven and earth to get the three hundred-kilo package to New Zealand on time. Arrival of the shipment was then confirmed by e-mail: "Steps have reached NZ", it said - much to the delight of those responsible for the shipment.
A promise: Photos after the installation in Auckland
The friendly buyers from New Zealand promised: "As soon as the escalator's fixed, we'll send you pictures!" We’re looking forward to receiving them! Then you will get to see them as well, here on our Blog – and on our Facebook page.
